Art Nouveau, 18ct Gold, Emerald and Diamond Ring
The elongated shape of this ring has its origins in the 18th century boat-shaped ‘navette’ rings of the 18th century. This version, with its curving, leaf-like contours, is clearly informed by Art Nouveau, a turn-of-the-century movement characterised by aesthetically stylised naturalism, and sinuous, dramatic lines. The unusual cuts of the outer emeralds are a particularly rare feature. The outer emeralds are extraordinary as they slightly curve to fit the contours of the ring’s outline - a difficult and expensive feat for a lapidary to accomplish with any gemstone. To finish it off, a line of beautifully matched circular-cut diamonds down the centre, bordered by four marquise-shaped emeralds, paired like newly sprouted leaves, some smaller diamond accents and a delicate millegrain border. This is a miniature masterpiece, it is romantic and unique making it a wonderful choice for an antique engagement ring. Please view the technical details below. Art Deco, Platinum, Cabochon Sri Lankan Sapphire and Diamond Ring
Sapphire and Diamond Ring. ‘Cabochon’ is the name for a domed cut, and apart from free-form tumbled beads, it is historically the oldest stone cut. Cabochons don’t rely on facets to sparkle and reflect light - rather, they rely on the stone’s colour and clarity to pool light within the stone, giving them a softer, more subtle appearance than faceted stones. This cabochon is extraordinary for its depth, which gives the stone a beautiful interior play of light, shifting with the angle of the stone. Sri Lankan sapphires are the perfect choice for this historic cut, with the relative lightness of their famed ‘cornflower’ blue allowing light to shine beautifully through the stone without being obscured. This beguiling sapphire is set within a delicate quatrefoil setting set with rose diamonds - a simple and poetic touch. Find out about resizing, certification and shipping at The Antique Ring Boutique
Can a ring be re-sized?
Yes, most of our rings can be re-sized; unless stated in the item description. Simply add your required size in the notes section at checkout, and our team will take care of the rest!
What is my ring size?
If you are unsure of your ring size after choosing the perfect ring, please consult the sizing guide here or contact us to get a more accurate gauge of your ring size.
How long does re-sizing take?
Please allow an additional 5 to 10 working days to the delivery time. If you require your order for a particular date, please get in touch as soon as possible, and we will do our best to accommodate.
Can I purchase a ring and later return it to be re-sized?
Yes, we do. For example, if you have recently purchased a vintage engagement ring online, but it is not quite the right size for your partner, we can resize it. There is no additional charge for this but the buyer is responsible for the return postage and insurance upon return.
Does the ring come with a certificate?
While most of our rings are accompanied by gemological certificates, it is possible to provide a certificate to rings which don’t already have a certificate. There is an additional charge for this. All of the rings are checked and examined by a professional gemologist before they reach the website.
Do you ship items internationally?
Yes, we provide free international express shipping on all online orders. Local taxes and duties may apply. However, we currently do not ship to the following territories: Africa, Brazil, Cambodia, India, Israel, Lithuania, North Korea, Pakistan, Republic of Georgia, Russia, Turkey, etc.
