Sapphire and diamond ring, circa 1900. The sapphire at the centre of this ring displays a deeply saturated and rich blue, its cushion-shaped cut giving it a beautiful inner play of light. The outline of its cut gives the rest of the ring its shape - an unusually elegant elongated cluster from the opening decades of the 20th century, of light open work design, set at each end with a row of graduated antique diamonds. A striking and sophisticated variation on the classic sapphire and diamond cluster, and an excellent choice for an engagement ring.
