Unique Art Deco rings
French 1920s Art Deco Aquamarine Ring, Platinum
The 1920s and 1930s saw a revolution in stone faceting. New technology, new supplies of stones and newly fashionable cutting styles. The result was a new era of daringly modern jewels, where gemstones could be set in seamless tessellations, showing broad expanses of colour. This extraordinary ring focuses on three geometrically-cut aquamarines, set in this new way, where no visible metal settings interrupt the junctions between them. Like an ocean wave, the two side stones slope slightly downwards from the larger central stone, following the curved surface of the finger. Mounted simply in platinum, this beautiful Art Deco jewel shows all the artistic and technical accomplishments of this unequalled age of jewellery design. Please view the technical details below. An Impressive Emerald and Diamond Navette Ring, 18ct Yellow Gold
Emeralds are commonly included stones, with fissures, feathers, crystals and fluid-filled inclusions. This emerald however balances its classic, rich green colour with excellent clarity and purity, its colour heightened by yellow gold settings against a silvered mount set with circular-cut diamonds. Rings in this distinctive design are known as ‘navette’ rings – literally meaning ‘little boat’, from the shape of their settings. Popular from the 18th century onwards, they were prized for their elongating effect on the hand of the wearer. This navette ring is an unusually late example of this classic design, dated to 1927, and is made in a traditional way, but using the newly-discovered and refined platinum for the front for extra durability, ensuring it does not tarnish. A truly elegant design, with a breathtaking centre stone. Please view the technical details below.
