Provenance

Original to 1905, this stunning Edwardian solitaire ring is set with a natural yellow sapphire of exceptional quality. Well over 6ct and remarkably clear, gems like this are exceedingly hard to come by. Cut by hand well over one-hundred years ago, the sapphire is likely from the old mines of Ceylon (modern day Sri Lanka) - the origin of the world's finest yellow sapphires.

Antique solitaire rings in their original state are rare - over the years its more common for stones of this size and calibre to be unset and re-fashioned into more current styles. The sapphire is delicately claw set in an open back setting, the gallery intricately pierced with a geometric openwork design. The shoulders are gently raised and and softly taper the a solid 18ct yellow gold band which perfectly compliments the golden-hue of the sapphire.
