Art Deco, 18ct White Gold, Rare Natural ‘Raspberry’ Purple Sapphire and Diamond Three-Stone Ring
Purple sapphire and diamond ring, early 20th century. Sapphires are found in a rainbow of colours aside from the famous blue. The exception is red, when they’re known as rubies. This unusual sapphire is almost exactly halfway between a classic blue sapphire and perfect red ruby – a rare and gorgeously saturated shade of purple, it reflects both a bluish violet and pinkish mauve in its facets. Untouched by heat treatment, it sits between a beautifully matched pair of early 20th century circular-cut diamonds – a timeless three stone ring with an unexpected twist, perfect as an engagement ring.
Diamonds: total carat weight approximately 0.90 carats, approximately I-J colour, VS/SI1 clarity on average.
