Georgian, 18ct Gold, Silver, Emerald and Diamond Ring

Product SKU: ARB-521

Emerald and diamond ring, 19th century. The settings of the diamonds in this ring are indicative of an early 19th century date, when jewels were mounted in silver on gold, and stones were set in large collets which were then pinched together and cut down to fit the edges of the stone to hold it in place. Predating the later claw settings, these are often known as ‘pinched collet’, or ‘cut down collet’ settings. The patination of the silver offsets the diamonds in this ring beautifully, which surround a step-cut emerald in a beautiful, summery shade of bright bluish-green. A beautiful and very wearable example of this historic style.
