Belle Époque zircon and diamond ring. This ring is designed around a showstopping blue zircon. Zircons are natural stones with a long history of use in jewellery. Their bright lustre and dispersion make them one of the only natural stones that can rival the fiery appearance of diamonds, and their spectrum of colours ranges from golden browns and fiery oranges to deep greens, but they were very often heated to bring out a surprising range of bright swimming pool blues and teals. Unusually in the world of gemstones, the explosion of colour that zircon naturally produces when heated is celebrated, and these blue/green stones, with their undeniable appeal, are highly sought after as a result. This spectacular example is unusually large, and is cut in the classic round brilliant cut, usually reserved solely for diamonds, that shows off its wonderful fire. The bright appeal of its central stone is counterbalanced by a hand made belle époque mount of extreme refinement, beautifully accented with early 20th century cushion-shaped and single-cut diamonds. A truly superb ring, coupling a wonderful gemological specimen with the best of early 20th century jewellery craftsmanship.
Why I love it...
“ This ring is rare, stunning, extraordinary, exceptional in every way and is the very reason I am so passionate about antique jewellery – this ring is everything. The zircon is a beautiful teal hue. The diamond-set mount is simply… magnificent! ”

The zircon is accompanied by a gemological certificate.
