Edwardian, 18ct Gold, Cabochon Demantoid Garnet and Diamond Ring

Product SKU: ARB-555

Cabochon demantoid garnet and diamond ring. Demantoid garnets are small green garnets with unusual high dispersion (or ‘fire’), which gave them their name, meaning ‘diamond-like’. The most famous discovery was in Russia’s Ural mountains, and these rare garnets became among the most prized and valuable stones of the late 19th and early 20th century. This delicate floral cluster ring is particularly unusual for having a border of demantoid garnets cut in domed ‘cabochons’ - a very rare cut choice for this unusual and attractive stone. With a scintillating early 20th century circular-cut diamond at its centre and an outer border of antique rose-cut diamonds in delicate millegrain settings, this is an unusual and intricate example of Belle Epoque jewellery design, and a beautiful addition to any jewellery collection.

 Why I love it...

“ Demantoid garnets are rare... but cabochon demantoid garnets I have never seen before. Making this little treasure a very special piece indeed. An exquisite ring demonstrating the highest craftsmanship and beauty.”
