Art Deco, Platinum, Sri Lankan Yellow Sapphire and Diamond Ring

Yellow sapphire and diamond ring, circa 1910. Sapphires are a renowned for their spectrum of colours, and among the brightest are beautiful vivid yellows, from a fresh, citrus tone to a rich orangey yellow. Owing their sunny tones to iron impurities, the most famous historic source of these yellow stones is Sri Lanka. This charming ring is set with an unheated lemon-yellow Sri Lankan sapphire weighing 2.70 carats, with a trio of early 20th century circular-cut diamonds in millegrained settings to each edge, aligned along the finger. This delicately beautiful ring, with its softly luminous central stone, is a beautiful and unusual choice for an engagement ring.
