Art Deco, Austrian, 5ct Sapphire and Diamond Cluster Ring

    Description

"This ring is set with an unheated 5-carat sapphire, in a beautiful, saturated shade of slightly violet-blue, known as ‘cornflower’. Sapphires of this shade are most commonly associated with the oldest known source of sapphires: Sri Lanka. Known in Sinhalese as ‘Ratna Dweepa’, meaning ‘the Isle of Gems’, Sri Lanka has been a source of many varieties of precious and semi-precious stones for millennia, and it’s these cornflower blue sapphires that are their most treasured. This five-carat example, with its charmingly off-centre facet pattern (cut locally, designed to maximise the carat weight of the stone when cut from the crystal), sits within a glittering border of circular-cut diamonds and outer shoulders of single-cut diamonds, giving it a bow-like outline. A romantic and stylish ring, with a classic sapphire at its heart."

    Why I love it...

“ The colour of this sapphire is spellbinding. This truly astonishing stone is a miracle of nature – a completely natural sapphire. We had to buy it. The design is amazing, it is the perfect ring for any occasion. ”
