Provenance
An Art Deco diamond solitaire ring, circa 1930. Set with an extraordinary old cut diamond with a delicate yellow tint, giving it a warmth that is both subtle yet undeniably luminous. Entirely hand-faceted, the diamond’s proportions reveal the touch of a master diamond cutter; the brilliance and fire displayed by this stone are unmatched, its facets capturing light in a soft, romantic glow that perfectly compliments the warm character of the stone.
The approximate central diamond weight is 1.50 carats, in an open back platinum claw setting, with an intricately pierced linear gallery which subtly accentuates the impressive size of the central stone. Flanked by raised shoulders with six grain set single-cut diamonds, three on either side, and chenier details below. The total approximate diamond weight is 1.56 carats. Solid platinum D-shape shank, the interior marked with ‘PLAT’. As diamonds became more widely available by the start of the 20th century, solitaire rings of this kind swiftly rose to popularity. Yet a diamond of such size, colour and exceptional quality would have stood apart even then - an unmistakable mark of refinement and the very pinnacle of sophistication.
