Edwardian, 18ct Gold, Platinum, Nephrite Jade and Diamond Ring

    Description

Nephrite and diamond ring. Nephrite is one of two distinct minerals commonly referred to as 'jade'. Though found in deposits as far flung as Mexico and New Zealand, and carved into beautiful works of art throughout the world, it was in China where the stone was elevated to its highest status and treasured more than almost any other material. This marquise-shaped cabochon nephrite displays a deep green tone, and its cut shows the smooth polish for which this stone is famous. Its border of rose-cut diamonds with millegrain edges and stylised Fleur de Lis shoulders give a refined and elegant finish to this beautiful example of Edwardian jewellery design.

    Why I love it...

“ This is a very unusual ring. Nephrite is not a gemstone often used in jewellery, so to find this little treasure was quite exciting. I often associate this colour of nephrite with the work of Fabergé... That distinctive bottle green colour has been cleverly used in this beautiful marquise diamond cluster ring - I think Carl Fabergé would have approved."
