Edwardian, 18ct Gold, Extraordinary Indicolite Tourmaline and Diamond Cluster Ring
Blue tourmaline and diamond ring, early 20th century. Tourmaline is capable of producing arguably the widest range of colours in the world of gems, including some extraordinarily vivid and distinctive hues. This particular tourmaline is a striking marine blue with flickers of green at the edges, faceted as a beautiful oval step step cut. Tourmalines of this shade are typically known as indicolite, and are one of the rarest and most highly prized varieties of this kaleidoscopic gem. Within a beautiful border of old European-cut diamonds, the ring is finished with shoulders elegantly modelled as attenuated Fleurs-de-lis. A truly remarkable and unique jewel, perfect as an engagement ring.
