Description
Emerald and diamond ring, mid 19th century. This elegant, almost modern simplicity of this ring’s design belies its early date. Its central stone is a beautiful Colombian emerald, displaying a classic, rich green hue and high transparency. Colombia has traditionally been the source of the world’s best emeralds, which owe their exceptional quality to a distinct type of crystal growth, not found in emeralds from other localities. This beautiful stone is flanked by early cushion-shaped diamonds, all in handmade cut down collet settings in the traditional combination of gold veneered with silver. A rare and historic survival, but also surprisingly wearable, this emerald and diamond ring can be worn alone, or as a sophisticated addition to any ring stack.
