Amethyst and diamond ring. The deep violet of this oval amethyst is the result of the stone’s exposure to natural radiation as it grew in the earth’s crust. This colour gave it its long-standing association with wine, which has persisted since the ancient world. Its name derives from Greek, meaning ‘to be sober’, and it was thought to guard against drunkenness. The well-proportioned oval cut of this amethyst shows off its beautiful body colour, which offset by a rich yellow gold mount bordered by sparkling brilliant-cut diamonds.
Why I love it...
“ This is, by far, the best amethyst ring we’ve ever bought. The amethyst is such an imperial colour. A vivid purple with red undertones... this is a typical characteristic of Siberian amethyst, found deep within the mountains of Russia. You can really see the flashes of red in incandescent light! ”
