Opal and diamond ring, late 19th century. Comprising three electric Australian opals displaying a wonderful range of colours; predominantly greens, blues with an overriding flash of red. The opals are interspersed with charming old-cut diamonds which further enhance the magical quality of the opals. Opals became extremely popular during the 19th century, with the best deposits located in Mexico, and in particular, Australia’s ‘Lightning Ridge’. The setting is beautifully simple, the ring sits perfectly low on the finger and looks fantastic when worn. It’s a wonderful ring, the images do not truly reflect the vibrancy of the opals - it’s a truly special ring.
