Provenance

Original to c.1905, the opals set in this Edwardian three-stone are breathtaking. All three exhibit an exceptional play-of-colour effect - that is, the patches of iridescent colour that appear to change and move as the opal is turned. Its no wonder that opals have long been considered one of the most mystical of gemstones, it has an undeniable captivating effect. Green is the most prominent colour shown, with pleasing flecks of bright violet and pink. Each opal is interspersed with three tiny single-cut diamonds, six in total. Their effect is one of enhancement rather distraction. The gallery is ornately carved in typical turn-of-the-century fashion.
