Antique Art Deco, 18ct Gold, Large Emerald and Diamond Marquise Cluster Ring, Original Box
Art Deco, emerald and diamond cluster ring, circa 1920. Set to centre a deep green emerald-cut emerald further set with beautiful old-cut diamonds in a marquise shape cluster. The emerald is a fresh vivid colour with very good saturation, it’s not too light or dark. The ring would have been made in France during the 1920s, it has the eagle head hallmark; for 18 carat gold. The ring has a wonderful golden-buttery colour, for many centuries, jewellery makers and craftsman alike adopted a technique called ‘gilding.’ Gilding is any decorative technique for applying a very thin coating of gold to solid surfaces such as metal, in this case 18 carat yellow gold. This ring is a perfect example of the result, it gives the gold an incredible golden glow.
The ring comes complete with its original fitted antique box.
