Sri Lankan sapphire, or Ceylon sapphire is simply sapphire that originates from Sri Lanka- previously known as Ceylon! It has a reputation for its rich and vibrant colour, usually of a higher saturation and clarity than other kinds of sapphire. The blue variety takes on a cobalt colour as opposed to the usual black blue and other varieties tend to be rich and exuberant, almost fluorescent.
