Provenance
Vintage sapphire and diamond cluster ring, original to c.1995. A stunning blend of antique detail with modern edge, this ring is breathtaking. Set to centre with an exceptional natural, unheated blue sapphire weighing 10ct. The colour is mesmerising. It quite literally glows with a rich, velvety cobalt-blue colour which is saturated and evenly distributed throughout the stone. As the light moves, so too does the colour, giving the stone a vivid, almost liquid quality that feels both luminous and alive. Set in a gold rub-over setting finished with refined millegrain edge detail.
The central sapphire is encircled by fourteen round brilliant-cut diamonds which elegantly graduate in size, giving the composition a carefully balanced and harmonious feel. In platinum rub-over settings with polished borders. Flanking either side of the sapphire are two rectangular step-cut diamonds set east-to-west which offer slightly broader finger coverage to balance out the overall look. The hall-of-mirrors effect produced by the step-cut stones contrasts beautifully with the brilliant scintillation of the round-cut diamonds and the visual impact is striking. The step-cut diamonds are set in platinum rub-over settings also finished with millegrain edging and form the shoulders of the ring.
But beneath its opulence and glamour, this ring keeps a special secret for its wearer. Turning the piece over reveals a gallery worthy of admiration in its own right. Finely pierced, sculptural, almost architectural in its precision, from a central oval collet openwork fans outward in perfect symmetry, each element elegantly graduating into a composition that feels both engineered and organic. It reminds me of a marigold mid-bloom or the hypnotic beauty of a peacock’s tail. The shoulders feature scrolling openwork and gently taper to a solid 18ct yellow gold band.
This ring is an absolute joy to look at from every angle, not just the obvious one!

- Hallmarks: marked with hallmarks that trace the ring to London, 1995. Further marked with '750' indicating 18ct yellow gold. Also marked with a historical serial number and an indistinct makers mark which we were unable to trace further.
