Provenance
Crafted in c.1980 but with the antique style in mind, this beautiful cluster ring was made in France, home to history’s most famous jewellery maisons. This isn’t your ordinary sapphire cluster; from the rarity of the central stone to the intricately pierced gallery design, there is plenty that sets this ring apart.
Set to centre with an elongated cushion-cut natural blue sapphire with an impressive weight of over 3ct. Its softly romantic silhouette is both rare and highly sought after, perfectly complementing the stone’s nuanced hue. The colour is both striking yet understated, it reminds me of the petals of a blue iris, shifting from velvety periwinkle in the light to deeper midnight tones as it turns.
Set in a rub-over setting and encircled by twelve round brilliant-cut diamonds, meticulously matched for colour and clarity. Their crisp scintillation frames the centre stone with exceptional brilliance, arranged in a refined oval cluster design with polished edges.
The gallery, crafted in 18ct yellow gold, is formed as a delicate lotus-like openwork design radiating from an oval collet, lending lightness and sculptural elegance to the setting. Lightly elevated shoulders flow into a substantial solid gold band, ensuring the ring remains balanced on the finger when worn. The exterior of the band bears French hallmarks, including the eagle’s head for 18ct gold and the dog’s head for platinum, affirming its quality and origin.
