Provenance
Original to c.1905, the Edwardian era, this has got to be the cutest cluster we have! Set with three natural round old-cut sapphires which have been perfectly matched in colour and have a pleasing sky-blue tone. The central sapphire is slightly larger than the flanking stones, lending the ring a sense of balance and understated elegance. All three are decoratively grain set in platinum and each surrounded by a cluster of old-mine cut diamonds. Eighteen in total with a combined approximate weight of 0.36ct.
Their hand-cut nature means each is faceted slightly differently, no two old-mine cut diamonds are ever identical and as a result each stone has its own sparkle, character and charm! The diamonds are set in platinum rub-over settings finishing with fine polished edges. The use of platinum is characteristic of Edwardian jewellery as it allowed for an airy lightness that enabled intricate detailing without sacrificing strength.
Edwardian jewellery is known for its delicacy, elegance and femininity - all three of which perfectly describe this ring. It is well proportioned and offers a broad finger spread without overwhelming. The gallery is intricately pierced with scalloped detail that subtly evokes petals. The gallery sits nice and low in profile and the polished rub-over outline makes this ring very comfortable and practical for everyday wear. To an 18ct yellow gold shank bearing an indistinct maker’s mark. A dainty ring fit for a dainty hand!
