To find out more about the gemstones in this ring:

Provenance

This stunning ring has been given a new lease of life by our incredible workshop. The mount itself is an Edwardian Era ring, c.1905. When we acquired it, the original gemstone was damaged beyond repair and so we've transformed it into this even more striking piece here. Set to centre with a fancy brown natural diamond, oval-cut and weighing 2ct!

It has an unusual and unique hazelnut brown hue, with some deeper cognac tones seen at certain angles and deeper orange at others. The colour is hard to put into words - much like hazel eyes. This diamond has all the bright brilliance of a modern cut stone, but set in this ring, it takes on an air of old-world romance - we are utterly obsessed.

Claw-set in elegantly curving platinum claws in an open-back setting, the gallery is intricately pierced and the collet below is in 18ct yellow gold. The shoulders are like no other...

Trumpeting shoulders which gracefully taper, sloped and open. Each set with two 19th century rose-cut diamonds. Rose-cut diamonds are rare so its always such a treat to see them, they are one of the earliest diamond cuts and are highly sought after among collectors due to their unique appearance. They have a characteristic warm and soft glow which has such a romantic and ethereal effect. Hand-cut centuries ago under candlelight, the rose-cut diamonds beautifully compliment the warmth of the brown diamond.

The shoulders taper to a solid D-shape 18ct yellow gold band, marked with '18ct'. The band has an unusual and very pleasing thickness to it. During the Edwardian era many rings had very slight and delicate bands but this one is subtly wider, making it so comfortable to wear.
