Provenance
Original to c.1905, this Art Nouveau diamond three-stone features the most characterful trio of diamonds you'll ever see. Perfectly mis-matched, each diamond has a different shape, cut and colour. The central diamond has a cool and airy oyster-pink hue to it, cushion old-mine cut with chunky facets and a distinctive softly rounded outline. Flanked by two similarly sized antique diamonds, one of which is a striking shade of yellow that verges on lime-green - elongated cushion-cut, this is a truly unique stone.
The third diamond may be the most charming of them all. We're not entirely sure what to call this shape; somewhere between an oval, a cushion and something completely of its own making. Cut by hand over a century ago, long before calibrated proportions and laser precision, it's delightfully wonky in all the right ways. We adore old mine-cut diamonds for exactly this reason – each one is wonderfully individual, a tiny reminder that they were fashioned by human hands rather than machines, and no two are ever quite the same.
From the three diamonds, sinuous open-work flows with a natural sense of movement, recalling the fluid, organic whiplash lines so celebrated by Art Nouveau designers. Each diamond is claw-set in an open-back setting above an intricately pierced gallery with delicate linear detail, leading to a solid 18ct yellow gold band.
