Provenance
Set to centre with a natural yellow sapphire from the historic mines of Ceylon (modern day Sri Lanka), source of the world's finest fancy coloured sapphires. This sapphire was cut by-hand over a century ago and was initially in an Edwardian ring, before being remounted during the 1950s to this stunning cluster ring.
The sapphire's colour is a stunning Sicilian lemon yellow and its hand-cut deep cushion proportions really make it glow. Set in elegantly curving claws and surrounded by a halo of cushion-shape old-mine cut diamonds, also antique and hand-cut, grain-set and bordered by a polished edge.
The gallery has exquisite open-work and sits low in profile on the finger, making it extremely comfortable to wear. The shoulders are stunning, lightly raised split-style and reminiscent of the fleur-de-lys motif. Gracefully tapering to a solid D-shape shank. Although mounted during the 1950s, this ring pays faithful homage to Edwardian design, with its elegant proportions, pastel yellow sapphire and pierced gallery.
