Antique, Victorian ruby and diamond five-stone engagement ring
Current band size: UK: O / US: 7.5 /
Single complimentary re-size available. This ring can easily be re-sized up or down, however we would not recommend sizing it smaller than an L.
Provenance
Original to c.1890, this late Victorian carved half-hoop ring features five gorgeous natural rubies, subtly graduated in size and each perfectly matched in colour and quality. All five stones have a vivid and intense ruby-red colour and bright and lively appearances. Like all the best rubies, they appear to glow from within, especially under sunlight.
Cushion-cut, their deep proportions intensify the colour further and to find five rubies of such incredible colour is truly rare. Claw-set in open-back settings and interspersed with tiny rose-cut diamonds in cut-down settings which add a very subtle and soft touch to the ring.
The gallery is so unique, with a criss-crossed lattice design carved into rich 18ct yellow gold - the design evokes ceremonial swags which reflected the grandeaur and opulence of the Victorian era. The shoulders are engraved with a scrolling volute motif, with further engraved design that flows to a solid D shape shank.
