Provenance
Original to c.1905, this stunning solitaire ring is set to centre with one of the finest antique diamonds we have come across in a long time. This old-mine cut has the perfect glowy warmth to it due to its pale yellow tint, reminiscent of elderflower blossom. Entirely cut by hand more than a century ago, this diamond has the quintessential cushion outline with its softly rounded corners and deep chunky proportions.
Weighing just over 2.80ct, the clarity of the diamond is exceptional - VS1. The way it sparkles in both daylight and candlelight is simply unmatched - a much softer and more romantic glow than modern laser-cut stones.
Claw-set in an open-back setting. To an intricately pierced gallery and shoulders, further set with tiny old-cut diamonds, designed as a filigree-style mount. Finished with millegrain edge detail throughout and exquisite platinum open-work - so delicate that it resembles fine Edwardian lace.
The shoulders taper to a solid platinum shank that is engraved with a wheat reed motif around the band. This ring is an exceptional testament to Edwardian craftsmanship,
