Provenance

This incredible topaz ring quite literally has the sunshine trapped within it. The topaz was originally in a early 19th century setting which we have had remade into this beautiful ring. During the 18th and 19th centuries topaz came to Europe from Brazil, the origin of some of the world's finest specimens it is now long depleted, making a topaz of this size, colour, clarity and history extremely rare.

The natural topaz has an impressive weight of just shy of 19cts (!!!) and glows golden no matter the lighting. Oval shaped and cushion-cut the topaz is exceptionally clear and comes to life when turned, like looking into a pool of liquid gold.

The mount is no less spectacular... designed specifically for the stone its a soft buttery 18ct yellow gold surrounding the topaz in an open-back rub-over setting. There is a refined open gallery below with chenier detail and millegrain edges that leads to a solid gold collet with circular back-holing. The shoulders are very lightly raised and taper to a solid gold 18ct yellow gold shank.
