Provenance
Made during the 1980s, this French honey-bear ring is a miniature masterpiece. Formed by a natural tiger's eye, intricately carved into the head of a honey-bear. Tiger's eye is a gemstone which displays a special type of chatoyancy - a unique optical effect caused by internal reflections. When turned under light, it takes a silky appearance as if made of gold thread, mirroring the way sunlight would reflect off the dark pelt of a real bear.
Surrounded by a beautifully sculpted cluster of finely worked gold scales, reminiscent of the overlapping layers of a conifer cone. The design flows seamlessly to a solid 18ct yellow gold band. A testament to exceptional craftsmanship and lapidary artistry, this ring is as technically accomplished as it is utterly charming.
