Vintage, 1960s deep 6ct blue sapphire and diamond cluster ring

Provenance
Made during the 1960s, this ring centres on a natural blue sapphire with a stunning depth of colour. Oval-cut and of exceptional quality it has a deep velvety midnight blue hue, evenly distributed throughout. Claw-set in an open-back setting and surrounded by a halo of round brilliant-cut diamonds, ten in total with a combined weight of 2ct.
The natural diamonds have been beautifully matched in colour, clarity and quality and the outline of the cluster follows the soft outline of the central sapphire. The gallery is of basket style, formed of 18ct white gold linear open-work. The shoulders are solid, gently tapering inwards before flowing to a solid 18ct yellow gold band.
