Provenance
Made in the 1950s, this incredible ring features a natural Ceylon sapphire of over 15ct!!! It has the most gentle honey-like hue and despite its huge size, it feels irresistibly soft and unimposing. The clarity of this stone is remarkable, with no eye-visible inclusions - a true rarity for a natural gemstone of this size. Claw-set in an open-back setting with double-prong details that hold the stone securely without being too distracting or bulky looking. The gallery is open and is structured by linear work. The shoulders gently taper and then seamlessly flow to a solid D-shape shank in a lovely rosy-gold which compliments the warm tones of the sapphire beautifully.
This ring was acquired from Sam's sourcing trip to the States. However, the sapphire is from Sri Lanka which is celebrated as the locality for the world's finest yellow sapphires. This particular stone has an almost liquid gold quality to it, yet still feels like a breathe of fresh air! The perfect ring.
