A fiery spessartine garnet weighting 6.42 carats set on an 18ct yellow gold chain with a small twinkling diamond set just above. Spessartine garnet is ideochromatic, which means it is coloured by one key element in its composition, in this instance- iron. It is one of six recognised species of garnet and ranges in colour from burnt orange to browny-red. This cushion-cut specimen is a wonderful and lively example.
