Art Deco, Russian, 14ct Gold, Onyx Signet Ring

Onyx signet ring. Signet rings are traditionally worn on the little finger in the UK, but on the ring finger in France and much of mainland Europe. Often inscribed with initials or coats of arms, or set with ancient cameos, they have been a mainstay of ring design since Roman times. This example is set with a banded onyx of unusually even tone, displaying a soft bluish-grey surface that is beautiful as it is, or perfect for carving with your own initials, a family coat of arms or just a favourite symbol.
