Opal and diamond ring, circa 1900. Opals are a gem variety of silica, famed for their firework displays of rainbow iridescence, ever changing with the angle of the stone. The three opal cabochons in this ring are particularly translucent, with beautiful flashes of orange among the plays of colour. Spaced by two pairs of early 20th century circular-cut diamonds and set in warm 18 carat yellow gold, this mesmerising ring is perfect worn alone or as part of a ring stack.
