Exceptional, Antique, Art Deco, Platinum Diamond and Sapphire Cluster Ring

Sapphire and diamond ring, circa 1915. This charming ring, designed as a hexagonal rosette, is deceptively simple. With an outer border designed as a folding ribbon, the openwork centre appears to float within it: a contrasting border of yellow gold encloses twelve perfectly tessellating calibré-cut natural sapphires, grouped in turn around another millegrain-set central diamond weighing approximately 0.70 carats. The reverse is equally perfect – a frame of scrolled openwork, to delicate leaf-shaped shoulders set with single-cut diamonds and a fluted band. Attention has been lavished upon every part of this masterpiece – a true testament the remarkable skill of early 20th century jewellers.
