Emerald and diamond ring. Emeralds have been prized for millennia, as far back as Ancient Egypt, for their unmistakeable, rich green hue. While the initial deposits of these oldest stones are thought to have been Indian or Egyptian, traditionally the most important emeralds are associated with Colombian sources, with more recent sources of comparable quality discovered in such far-flung deposits as Zambia, Brazil and Pakistan. Emeralds are usually highly included stones, and are commonly treated with oil or resin to improve the appearance of inclusions, but this 1.77 carat emerald, with its bright apple-green colour, is of excellent clarity, and has only minor clarity enhancement. Its classic elongated ‘emerald cut’ is complemented by shoulders set with princess-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 0.40 carats, within a sleek and well-designed mount in yellow and white gold.

Accompanied by GCS report no. 80246-44, stating that the emerald weighing 1.77 carats is natural, with indications of minor clarity enhancement.
