"Set with a superb unheated Burmese ruby weighing approximately 1 carat, this cluster ring has one of history’s most beloved gemstones at its heart. Burma (now Myanmar) has some of the world’s richest gem deposits, and has long been the source of the best rubies, spinels and jadeite. Burmese rubies are so highly prized due to their bright fluorescence, which adds a subtle glow to the body colour, particularly visible in sunlight. With their fiery shades of red, it will come as no surprise that rubies were much sought after in ancient India, where they were strongly associated with the sun, and particularly the sun deity Surya. The deep red of this ruby is encircled by a border of early 20th century circular-cut diamonds - a perfect setting for this extraordinary stone."

Why I love it...

“ Burma is famed for producing the finest rubies in the world. The ruby in this ring is just perfect - it’s exactly 1ct and the best colour!
