The history of Rubies

Derived from the Latin phrase meaning of “precious red stone” rubies have captivated the hearts of many people since the late 19th century. Ruby deposits have been found in many different countries throughout world such as Thailand, Brazil, Afghanistan and even Scotland but the first rubies were mined in India roughly 2000 years ago. According to legend, people throughout the ruby mining communities in India believed these spectacular gemstones could bring peace and help protect against negative energy. Rubies were also popular amongst Burmese soldiers during the war as they believed would protect them from getting injured.
